I first found Darby on Instagram where I totally fell in love with her etheric, fairy vibe. Her work is incredible. From potions to help with cramps, to herbal pre-rolls of the most eye catching papers, to crystal infused essential oil blends - this magical mama has created absolute sensual BLISS. ) Please tell me a little bit about yourself, including your full name and pronouns.
My name is Darby Brown (she/her). I am a 22-year-old crystal and plant lover, holistic health enthusiast, metaphysical teacher, Eastern Religion student, yoga-doer, pranic healer, equality supporter, and loving kindness devotee. In this lifetime I have been incarnated as a creator, a messenger, and a giver. I am the creatrix behind Garden Fairy Co., an online destination for spiritual health and wellness.
2) What inspires your work and creative process // What moves you the most? // What does creating do for you?
I am a natural entrepreneur. I’ve never been able to see myself working at a desk for a cause that doesn’t ignite my fire. Creating products that the GFC (Garden Fairy Co.) community will cherish is what moves me most. Seeing visions of potential products, actualizing the idea with my own two hands, and then watching them benefit hundreds of lives has been one of the greatest joys of my life thus far. Creating gives me purpose.
3) Do you ever feel vulnerable or fearful putting your work out there? How do you overcome it?
Sometimes. Entrepreneurship is risk. Some products are not as well received as others, but I keep on goin’. I am very lucky to have a community that is full of welcoming, compassionate, and kind beings so I don’t really fear harsh criticism!
4) Do have any advice or words of wisdom for other creatives?
The first painting you do will suck. The first song you make will suck. The first blog post you make will suck. The first video you film will suck. That’s the process, baby! Don’t be discouraged and don’t compare yourself to others. It is literally impossible to not get better at something if you work on your skill everyday. Practice manifestation, believe in yourself, and put the work in!
5) What do you want your herbal magic to unlock//evoke in people?
I like this question. My hit product is non-tobacco herbal pre-rolls that have a host of healing benefits. They induce vivid dreams, provide natural anxiety relief and clear out the respiratory system. Another blend boosts libido and heals pain. I want my herbal magic to open the consumer’s eyes to the magic of holistic healing in a cute, trendy, and easily digestible fashion. I want it to be a tool that people can use to stray away from tobacco cigarettes. Bigger picture, I want Garden Fairy Co. to be an expansive community of accepting individuals focused on self development, spirituality, and holistic wellness.
